Gest Film was founded in 2016 under the name Gestus Film Productions. The company’s debut project was a critically acclaimed short fiction film dedicated to director Abbas Kiarostami. Over the following years, Gest Film produced a number of award-winning short films, music videos, and documentaries.
In 2024, the company completed its first feature-length film, Unfruitful Times — an international co-production between Turkey, Italy, and North Macedonia. The film premiered at the 31st International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, where it received multiple major awards including Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor.
Its festival journey continued at the 35th Ankara Film Festival, where it was honored with the Mahmut Tali Öngoren Award for Best First Feature, as well as additional acting awards. At the 44th Istanbul Film Festival, the film received the FILM-YON Best Director Award. Most recently, it was awarded Best Film at the 25th Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival in 2025. The film was theatrically released in Turkey in May 2025.
